Magali Irla
Professor
enter of Immunology of Marseille Luminy (CIML)

Biography
Dr. Magali Irla leads the team “Immune Tolerance & T-cell Differentiation†at the Center of Immunology of Marseille Luminy (CIML), Marseille, France(http://www.ciml.univ-mrs.fr/science/lab-magali-irla/immune-tolerance-and-t-cell-differentiation). She has a long-standing interest in the induction of T-cell tolerance that takes place in the thymus. After a Ph.D. in Immunology at Aix-Marseille University, she completed postdoctoral training at the University of Geneva in Switzerland where she studied the differentiation of medullary thymic epithelial cells(mTECs) that control the selection of developing T cells. After being appointed as a junior group leader at the University of Geneva, she joined the CIML where she continues to study the fascinating interplay between mTECs and developing T cells, including Foxp3+ regulatory T cells.
